Jalal and his Oud ( Arabian Mandolin )

((    My Oud  ))

( 1 )  You were a mysterious world  with 12 strings.

l was fascinated by you, and infatuated  how you sing ?

For years life’s concerns kept my dream  asleep,

Within me it was alive ,like a bird growing his wings.

Then l saw you in that window ,

My heart jumped out of my chest.

( 2 ) Waves of rhapsody in my veins occurred ,

Many full moons practicing l did spend .

Slowly l began unraveling  every scale’s aspect.

For four years musical notes l drank and ate.

( 3 ) My Oud eventually became my best friend.

When l am troubled or even stressed  ,

l hug my Oud with tenderness and caress ,

l and my Oud we have mutual love for each other and respect.
